Mr. C. Reed Stubbe

Greetings Glenolden!

My name is Christopher "Reed" Stubbe. My journey in the field of education began at Penn State University. I have 13 years of teaching experience, serving grades 1st through 6th, but the majority of my career was as a 5th-grade teacher. After completing the Early Grades Instructional Leadership (EGIL) program with the DCIU and Temple University, I earned my Master's degree and Administrative Certification at Holy Family University. I have been working with our 1st through 8th-grade students at Glenolden Elementary School and Glenolden Middle School since 2019, and I'm so proud to be a Buc!

Every year we deal with new challenges and make changes to our programming to meet the needs of our students and our community. This year we are renewing our focus on data-driven decision-making and instruction. In particular, we are emphasizing student learning and work ethic by returning to the fundamentals: developing strong numeracy, building fact fluency and computation skills in mathematics, and strengthening reading through the strands of Scarborough’s Reading Rope. This model helps us remember that skilled reading is like a rope woven from many strands—such as vocabulary, background knowledge, spelling, and word recognition—that grow stronger as they are practiced and combined. By focusing on these essential skills, we are giving our students a solid foundation to grow as confident learners who can apply their knowledge in real-world ways.

To support this, we are striving to ensure fluency in reading and mathematics by incorporating interventions to address skill gaps and providing opportunities for practice and real-world applications. In 1st and 2nd grades, we are excited to roll out our walk-to-read block called Bucs Bounce to meet our students where they are and support them in becoming strong readers!

We achieve by adhering to our core tenets of Preparation, Respect, Integrity, and Determination to achieve Excellence. We call this our Buc P.R.I.D.E. PBIS system. We reward students for making positive choices and overcoming challenges. We also intervene and support when we fall short of meeting clear expectations.
